COP31
The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the world's most important annual climate meeting.
It brings together countries that are party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement to advance international climate action.
COPs are a platform for the world to:
Türkiye is hosting COP31 including the World Leaders’ Summit in the city of Antalya from 9 to 20 November 2026. Australia is the President of Negotiations for COP31.
COP31 will focus on delivery and acceleration – turning commitments from the Paris Agreement into practical outcomes.

President of Negotiations
Australia is the President of Negotiations for COP31, working closely with COP31 President, Türkiye, to deliver practical, real-world outcomes.
Australia will work with countries to build consensus and make progress across all negotiating issues.

Action Agenda
Türkiye and Australia will work with Pacific island countries to strengthen and elevate the COP31 Action Agenda.
This includes hosting a session at COP31 on the climate finance needs of Small Island Developing States.
Australian First Nations Engagement
Australia’s approach to leading the negotiations at COP31 will be transparent, inclusive and consultative. It will also be informed by First Nations voices, knowledge and leadership. Knowledge formed and passed down over 65,000 years of caring for Country.
Presidency Youth Climate Champion
Ms Sally Higgins has been appointed as the Presidency Youth Climate Champion (PYCC) for COP31.
Sally is a farmer from Allora, a small town in Queensland's Darling Downs.
Five years ago, she and her partner started their own mixed cattle and cropping farm. Farming is central to who she is – she loves the connection to the land, the industry, and her local community.
As Youth Climate Champion, Sally is working with young people across the globe to bring youth voices to the table at COP31.
