The Taku Pakasoa Declaration: Strength in Unity

‘Taku Pakasoa’ in Tuvaluan represents strength found in unity and collective action.
The Taku Pakasoa Declaration was endorsed by a group of countries and territories, including our Pacific family, following their visit to Tuvalu. Grounded in their experience in Tuvalu, the Declaration brings our voices together, in unity, resilience and power, as a call to action to address our shared challenges, protect our cultures and build our shared future.
Following its adoption on 6 October, we invite other countries and territories and organisations to consider associating themselves with the Declaration ahead of COP31 – join with us to advance global climate action and implementation to secure a better future for generations to come.
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia, the Indigenous Peoples throughout the Pacific and globally, and their roles in caring for lands, seas and skies. We respect and recognise Indigenous Peoples’ contributions in the fight against climate change.
