Fiji and Tuvalu | 5-6 October 2026
Tuvalu, Fiji and Australia are partnering to deliver the Pacific Pre-COP Leaders’ event.
The event will set the scene for Pre-COP in Fiji, ahead of COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye.
Held in Tuvalu and Fiji, it will amplify the Pacific’s voice on the world stage, and bring decision makers to the frontlines of climate change to help shape global action.
Event Program
Tuvalu
Leaders and their representatives will take part in a traditional welcome ceremony, receive briefings on climate impacts and adaptation across the Pacific, visit climate-affected locations and resilience projects, and engage with the Government of Tuvalu and local communities.
Fiji
After Tuvalu, Leaders will gather in Fiji for a Pre-COP Leaders' Plenary ahead of Pre-COP and COP31. Together this will
amplify the voice of the Pacific, ensuring their clear call to action is heard

About Tuvalu
The atoll nation of Tuvalu is one of the smallest and most remote nations in the world.
It is made up of 9 islands and atolls which sit less than five metres above sea level.
As the world’s second lowest-lying country, Tuvalu is one of the countries most exposed to the effects of climate change.
In the face of the climate crisis, Tuvalu has been among those leading climate advocacy and action.
Projects like the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project (TCAP) show how Tuvalu is leading the way on solutions to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Key focus areas
The visit to Tuvalu will bring the world’s attention to the impact of climate change on many Small Island Developing States. .
The visit will drive momentum on the global climate agenda, including:
keeping 1.5°C within reach
strengthening action on the links between climate change and the ocean, including sustainable ocean management and the blue economy.
